Beautiful weather blesses YL Golf Scramble

A perfect summer day blessed golfers at the 4th Annual Young Leader Golf Scramble held Saturday, July 21 at the Wayne County Golf Course in Fairfield, IL. 14 teams participated in this year's event, as well as 32 sponsors.
Congratulations go out to the team of Darrell Arview, Joe Mitchell, Steve Dawkins, and Kent Nale for placing first with a score of 57. The team won four Cardinals tickets donated by Roark Trucking of Carmi.
Richard Scott was the golfer who hit closest to the pin on Hole #2. Jay Fyie took the honors of the longest putt on Hole #13. Lee Miller hit the longest drive on Hole #16. Each individual won $75 cash.
Nobody hit the Hole-in-One on #17 to win a John Deere Gator XUV 825i, sponsored by McLean Implement.
Steve Gustafson won the 50/50 drawing, earning him $118.
The funds raised from this year’s golf scramble will support Young Leader programming including the annual collegiate scholarship, the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day program, and participation in Illinois Farm Bureau Young Leader programs. $2,800 was raised from the event.
“We would like to thank all of the golfers and sponsors that made this event possible,” said Doug Anderson, Manager of the Wayne County Farm Bureau. “The support for the young ag people in our community is overwhelming.”
