Impressive line-up of speakers booked for nutrient conference

Area farmers are invited to attend the Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategies Conference on March 6. This premier event will feature eight different leading figures in Illinois’ efforts to reduce nutrient loss from our farm fields.
The program will feature a kick off presentation from Jean Payne, President of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association, and will conclude with a talk from Lauren Lurkins, Director of Natural & Environmental Resources with the Illinois Farm Bureau.
The conference will include six breakout sessions, including “Industry Support for 4R’s”, “NRCS Involvement in the NLRS”, “Nitrogen Monitoring”, “NLRS Impact on Non-Ag Stakeholders”, “4R Strategies for NLRS that Fit Southeastern IL”, and “Cover Crops in a 4R Management Plan”.
The conference will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel. The conference will begin at 8:00 a.m. in the Brubeck Arts Theatre, and will conclude at 12:30 p.m. with lunch.
