This has been a challenging spring for our farmers. Between low commodity prices, excessive rains, planting delays, and disruptions in international trade, farmers are facing a year where net farm income could be in the red.
Despite the challenges, there are tools available to farmers to help them market their grain and hedge against negative price fluctuations. To help farmers gain a better understanding of how to use these grain marketing techniques, the Wayne County Farm Bureau has teamed up with AgriVisor, LLC and Fairfield National Bank to host a “Marketing with Options” informational program.
Marketing with Options will feature Joe Camp, a published market commentator and grain analyst with AgriVisor, LLC. The program will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the basement community room of Fairfield National Bank (enter through the west door). During the program, farmers will learn the basics of trading options for corn and soybeans, as well as other marketing tools that will help them maximize their grain prices for this challenging growing season.
The program is free and open to the public. Generous finger foods will be available. Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP their attendance by calling the Wayne County Farm Bureau at 618-842-3342. More information on AgriVisor, LLC can be found at www.agrivisor.com.
